Connect Health Apps: Using Nudge With Runkeeper | User Review
So we’ve all downloaded various apps to help us keep track of our busy lives. I have apps that track my calories, my workouts, my moods and cycles, my daily to-dos, ect. It can all be overwhelming and time consuming to access these apps several times a day. Sometimes I even long for a pen and paper! When Nudge and Runkeeper merged I was stoked! Two of the apps I access numerous times a day are now one in my world. Now when I take that afternoon run using Runkeeper, it simultaneously syncs into my Nudge account, meaning I no longer have to log my workouts in Nudge. How awesome is that!?
If you enjoy logging your activity and food consumption as much as I do then you need to make sure you have these two key apps. On a daily basis I use them both to help keep my routine in check. It’s very important to me to eat a well balanced diet and Nudge helps me with some basic guidelines. It gives me four major goals to meet everyday: drink at least 4 servings of water, eat at least 4 servings of fruits and vegetables, get at least 20 minutes of activity and sleep for a minimum of 6 hours. I try to exceed these goals but I make sure that I at least meet the daily suggestions that Nudge offers. By logging everyday I not only keep myself on track but I improve my Nudge Factor. Nudge created the Nudge Factor to score how healthy your choices are. I teeter between 96-103. The maximum Nudge Factor is 110 and I am determined to reach it!! I find the Nudge app to be highly motivational for me. I am very much into self-competition and this is right up my alley.
Just like with Nudge, Runkeeper really keeps me on my toes and moving. Runkeeper has the ability to post your workouts to Facebook. I find that on the days I don’t see any activity in my feed, I realize I need to get moving and head straight for the gym. The most gratifying thing about this app is it shows me how many calories I’ve burned. That keeps me motivated all day long! Runkeeper can be used when walking, running, cycling, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, skating, swimming and even rowing. Basically, anytime you’re outside and moving, it can track it. It also offers the ability to log activity that you do in the gym. I run on a treadmill a lot so I make sure to manually log those runs. There is also no limit on how many activities you can log each day. I always make sure Runkeeper is tracking my every move. All those dog walks add up!
Seeing my daily progress on Nudge and Runkeeper is extremely valuable to keeping me focused on staying healthy. Without access to apps like Nudge I might not find any importance in meeting daily goals or increasing my overall health. Even when you make not so healthy choices, like drinking and smoking, those are logged on Nudge too. The added awareness of the choices you make, day-in and day-out, for me is priceless.
